MARTIN DJURAČKA was born on 16 October 1946 in Bratislava. He studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
He has been involved in painting since his early age. He comes from the family of a prominent Slovak artist Anton Djuračka, known also for his unforgettable drawings and paintings of Slovak castles. Artistic surroundigs, where he was growing up, affected his life-heading.
Since 1960s he has been exclusively occupied with painting. Landscapes are particularly of his interest, however he is also a painter of still-lifes and portraits. He usually paints in plein-air. He finds his inspiration in the natural beauties of Slovakia ( e.g. High and Low Tatras, Low and High Fatras, Roháče, Kremnicas hills, etc.), in distinctive villages (e.g. Ždiar, Osturňa, Blatnica, Liptovská Teplička, Špania valley, etc.), the Záhorie region - in the south-west part of Slovakia (e.g. Sološnica, Rohožník, Borinka, etc.) and also in attractive ambience of our towns (e.g. historical part of Bratislava, Nitra, Banská Štiavnica, etc.).
Paintings of Martin Djuračka can be found in collections of various art-galleries across Slovakia (e.g. Art Gallery of Nitra, Art Gallery of High Tatras, Banská Bystrica, etc.), in private collections in Slovakia and abroad (e.g. Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, USA, Russia, Canada, Germany, Croatia, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, etc.).
